How to Pack for a Month in One Carry-On Bag

Kickstarter-funded clothing brand Vetta has created a capsule wardrobe of five pieces that are perfect for travel.

We love a good packing magic trick. Whether it’s finding room for an extra pair of shoes, keeping that bottle of Barbaresco from breaking mid-flight, or MacGyver-ing your Dopp kit, a great strategy is the first step to packing success. And Vetta, a new clothing brand that got its start on Kickstarter, has one of the best strategies we’ve ever seen. With their capsule collection of five pieces, you can create 30 different outfits. Put another way? You can pack for a month of travel in one carry-on bag.

Co-founded by Vanessa van Zyl and Cara Bartlett, Vetta is based in New York, and uses eco-friendly fabrics to create its five key pieces. A two-piece dress, a top, a long sleeveless vest, culottes and a tunic, each item can be worn a variety of way, as well as mixed and matched with other pieces. Genius details, like a top that can be worn as a crew-neck or a v-neck, and a tunic that can be tied at either side to create a shorter shirt, are what give the collection its versatility.

The brand was launched as a Kickstarter campaign, raising close to $100,000 in a month, and pre-orders are currently available on the Vetta site (the collection will ship in June). Each piece comes in sizes XS-XL, and can be ordered in a few different neutral colors. Customers can pick and choose from the five pieces, but we recommend ordering the entire collection and seeing if you can re-create all 30 looks, as we did in the video above. And the best part? You can now cross what to pack off the list of reasons why you can’t take that month-long trip you’ve always dreamed about. So what are you waiting for? There’s a whole world out there to (chicly) explore.
