Safaris can include more than looking at hippos and lions. andBeyond's newest itinerary takes guests through South Africa and Tanzania to learn about the origins of the human race. The 16-day tour begins in Ngorongoro conservation area within the Serengeti—guests will stay at the andBeyond Ngorongoro Crater Lodge and explore Olduvai Gorge, where anthropologists Mary and Louis Leakey discovered some of the oldest known homo sapiens remains, and quite literally walk in the footsteps of our ancestors.

The rest of the itinerary offers more traditional animal-viewing safari schedules in Serengeti National Park and South Africa's Sabi Sand Game Reserve, plus some sightseeing in both Johannesburg and Cape Town, which includes Table Mountain and a cycling trip through the winelands.
