Forget New Zealand. All Lord of the Ringsfans need to add Deadwood, South Dakota to the top of their travel bucket lists. As it turns out, this unassuming Black Hills city is home to the one vacation rental to rule them all—a Hobbiton-inspired treehouse, courtesy of VRBO.

For every Tolkien fanatic who has ever dreamed of living in the Shire (so...all of them), this rental is like a slice of heaven on Middle Earth. Owners Gordon and Audrey Mack put in obvious effort to make the 400-square-foot treehouse as authentic as possible, with details like a crooked chimney, trademark circular door, and artificial grass covering the walkway and handrails. There are even hairy-feet slippers for guests who enjoy method acting during their holidays.

And for those vacationers who prefer Rivendell to humble Hobbiton, fear not. The treehouse is tucked behind the Macks' Chateau De Soleil, an opulent country house worthy of the Elvish elite. We're talking three porches, hot tubs, and a Pac-Man game room that is an attraction in and of itself.

Together, the treehouse and Chateau De Soleil can fit up to 16 guests, with rates starting around $595 per night.
