Flights to Europe are on sale for late spring, thanks to Icelandair's announcement of new service to Paris's Orly Airport. To celebrate, the airline has discounted airfares from five major U.S. cities—New York, Newark, Washington D.C., Boston, and Denver—to its top European destinations: London, Copenhagen, and Paris. Most deals are under $700 roundtrip, including taxes and fees, and some sample routes include New York (JFK) to Copenhagen for $546, Boston to Paris for $661, and Newark to London for $708.

These deals are valid for travel from April 5 through June 9, 2016, and include the option to add an Iceland stopover for up to seven nights at no additional cost to fly. Imagine the layover: spending a perfect weekend soaking in Iceland's hot springs and tasting the best of the burgeoning microbrew scene before continuing on for another set of adventures in Paris. Icelandair has even made it easier for solo travelers to enjoy such an itinerary, thanks to the launch of its complimentary "Stopover Buddy" program. Available buddies partner with travelers to head out on truly local experiences, such as backcountry skiing, cycling through the volcanic landscape, or cooking traditional recipes in a family kitchen.

Beyond Iceland, now is an ideal time to plan for spring travel in northern Europe, especially with the anticipated return of Chef René Redzepi to his two-Michelin-star Copenhagen haute spot Noma, following a 10-week pop-up in Sydney. The movie The Danish Girl is also giving Copenhagen a latent boost in 2016 travel; design lovers should pencil in a visit to the Arne Jacobsen suite at the capital's Radisson Blu Royal Hotel.

To book one of the airfare deals, visit Icelandair's website by February 10.
