    The Floating Seahorse, Dubai, UAE

    "Dubai has never been...shall we say,understated. Now, developers are moving underwater for the latest innovations in luxury and extravagance. Kleindienst Group, a real estate developer, has revealed the first of a planned 131 floating villas, part of their work on The World, a man-made archipelago off Dubai's coast in the shape of Earth's continents. Plans for the Floating Seahorse villas were released last year, but now the first prototype has been built and will be ready for visitors as early as this fall." -Sebastian Modak

    "Prize-winning sculptor Antony Gormley has tackled his first-ever hospitality project—a sculpture that does double duty as the world’s most intriguing hotel suite. From the interior corridor of the new Beaumont hotel in London’s posh Mayfair neighborhood, room 215 seems like any other. Step inside, though, and you’re less in a hotel suite than an interactive piece of art. The bedroom of the suite is concealed entirely within the sculpture and accessible from the stark white bathroom via heavy black curtains. Part them, and you’ll find a luxurious double bed floating in a dark oak-paneled room that stretches three stories high. Gormley’s intent was to create a 'cocoon' for guests." -Mark Ellwood
